Professional Preparation

Internship, Licensing, and Ordination

NAMI certification students studying for ministry or practitioner status who successfully complete the prescribed course of study receive the appropriate diploma or certificate.

Students may begin an internship after the first year of coursework. If accepted, the student devotes the internship period to developing skills and demonstrating ability under the supervision of a faculty advisor or designated supervisor.

The student is required to perform the prescribed hours of service, make regular reports or hold conferences with the supervisor, and demonstrate accountability in an on-site professional setting.

At the conclusion of the internship, the student becomes a candidate for certification by New Awareness Ministries. Certification is not automatic and does not imply certification or licensing by any Florida state agency.

Governing Policy

NAMI Certification Policy

NAMI certification is not an honor conferred automatically following completion of coursework. It carries a special and solemn responsibility and is granted solely by New Awareness Ministries.

  1. Upon recommendation of CIAMSS, certification may be granted to individuals who complete the prescribed course of study, satisfactorily complete the program, and are deemed worthy by New Awareness Ministries to carry its name as certified metaphysical practitioners.
  2. Upon recommendation of CIAMSS, certification may be granted to individuals whose studies at other schools are judged equivalent to CIAMSS coursework and whose internship or equivalency is deemed worthy of certification.
  3. New Awareness Ministries and/or CIAMSS may require further academic or internship work as a prerequisite for certification, licensing, or ordination.
  4. Annual dues for certified or licensed practitioners are paid to NAMI during October each year, with the amount based on the highest category attained.
  5. Applicants must agree to be bound by the rules, regulations, and Declaration of Principles of New Awareness Ministries and CIAMSS. Application forms for Practitioner Membership must be accompanied by the appropriate annual dues.
  6. Three-year ministerial students complete the Healing Arts Program during the first two years of study and may receive an Associate of Metaphysical Healing Arts degree and certification as both a holistic healing practitioner and metaphysical healing practitioner. Licentiate and Ordained Minister status remain subject to the invitation and approval of the NAMI Pastoral Board.

Certification status is conferred by invitation only. During training, students are examined periodically by the Academic and Pastoral Boards. Final approval rests solely with New Awareness Ministries.
